Correspondence with Edward Soermus

Scope and Content

Correspondence with Edward Soermus (1878-1940), violinist, relating to an expression of pleasure by Scott in the removal of the restrictions which barred Soermus from entry to Britain, accompanied by internal correspondence discussing Soermus, an enquiry to be made at the home office regarding Soermus' order of expulsion, and the procedure for applications for permanent residence. There is an expression of thanks by Soermus for Scott's assistance in his case, and an invitation to a concert to be given by Soermus at the Memorial Hall in Manchester. Also included is a letter of apology from Soermus, following a critical review of the performance published in the Manchester Guardian.

There is a letter of condolence from Soermus to E.T. Scott, on the death of Scott, which is received with thanks.
