Correspondence with Dame Katharine Furse

Scope and Content

Correspondence with Dame Katharine Furse (1875-1952), nurse and nursing administrator, relating to Furse's desire to assist in Scott in his support for [Violet] Douglas-Pennant, air force officer, and a request that Scott act as an intermediary, and arrange for a meeting between Furse and Douglas-Pennant, which is accepted. There is discussion of proposed arrangements for the meeting, and suggested points for discussion with reference to Douglas-Pennant's grievance against Furse in relation to her dismissal [as commandant] of the WRAF. This grievance is outlined by Scott as relating to Furse's recommendation of [Mabel] Beatty, whom Douglas-Pennant holds responsible for making allegations against her.

Also included is a copy letter from Scott to Douglas-Pennant, in which there is discussion of Douglas-Pennant's petition, and enquiry as to the form in which she envisages the proposed review of her case could be carried out. There is also correspondence relating to the letter to Douglas-Pennant between Scott and Furse.
