Scope and Content

Copy letters to Daniel Garvin, relating to discussion of assistance provided by Scott to Garvin over debts owed to creditors and money lenders, with details of weekly repayments to be made at the Manchester Guardian offices, arrangements for meetings between Scott and Garvin, and related internal memoranda.

Also included is correspondence between Galloways Limited and Scott, relating to an enquiry by Scott as to Garvin's previous employment with the company, and a request for its potential renewal, which is declined. There is a letter from Lawrence Scott, clergyman, discussing Garvin's ineligibility for relief from the church, and his family circumstances, and a letter from Tatham Worthington and Co. relating to Garvin's debts to a money lender, and arrangements for the sale of his furniture to Scott to assist in the payment of these debts.
