Correspondence with Arthur Morgan Young, journalist and editor, relating to requests by Morgan Young to be considered for employment by the Manchester Guardian, which are declined, with discussion of his employment as editor of The Japan Chronicle, and work as a correspondent for the Manchester Guardian and Manchester Guardian Commercial. Also included are related internal memoranda. There is an expression of congratulations and admiration to Scott [on his retirement as editor], and discussion of assistance to be provided by Morgan Young in securing a new correspondent for the paper in Japan, should he decide to leave the country.

There is correspondence between Morgan Young and E.T. Scott and W.P. Crozier, relating to the provision of a copy of a letter by Morgan Young regarding a complaint received from Nakahashi [Tokugoro], minister of Home Affairs of Japan, regarding an article from the Manchester Guardian reprinted in The Japan Chronicle [on the Japanese invasion of Manchuria] and the open door policy.
