Scope and Content

Correspondence with J.H. Elliot, relating to discussion of a request by Elliot, made at the suggestion of the Lawrence Scott, clergyman, for advice on his potential as a music critic, and the provision of specimen of work. The specimens are approved by Neville Cardus, music critic at the Manchester Guardian, and a meeting between Cardus and Elliot is arranged.
