Correspondence with H. Newton Lane, conductor, relating to discussion of a complaint by Lane at the brevity of a preliminary notice of the forthcoming season of the Brand Lane concerts in the Manchester Guardian, with discussion of [Neville Cardus], writer on cricket and music critic, and a request by E.T. Scott for further particulars on the music to be performed in order to write a more detailed notice, and accompanied by internal memoranda discussing the subject.

Also included is correspondence discussing a difference in opinion between Scott and Lane in relation to an article in the Manchester Guardian entitled 'The BBC as Publisher', which Lane suggests is comparable to subsidised orchestral concerts.
