Rawlings studied at the University of Manchester and qualified LMSSA in 1915. He worked as an anaesthetist at SMH, the Manchester Hospital for Consumption and the St John's Hospital of Manchester and Salford for the Ear. He was possibly the son of Fredric Rawlings and brother of Frederick William Rawlings.
