Steward, a relation of Alfred and James Kendrick Steward, studied medicine at Owens College and the University of Manchester. He was house surgeon at MRI and medical officer to the 2nd Western General Military Hospital in Manchester. Steward settled in general practice in Newton Heath and later lived in Hollinwood. He died on 19 May 1963.
