Shaw was lecturer in botany and materia medica to Marsden Street Medical School, Manchester. Shortly after Joseph Jordan formed his school in Mount Street, Shaw became lecturer in materia medica for the school. He may be the same individual referred to the 1870 Medical Directory, namely George Shaw, MD Camb 1829, FRCP Lond 1830, practising as a physician in Leicester.
