Titcombe was a medical graduate of the University of Manchester and held house appointments at Ancoats Hospital, Manchester. He was pathologist to Christie Cancer Hospital before working in general practice in Disley, Cheshire. Titcombe was a member of Manchester Medical and Pathological Societies.
