Saberton was the eldest son of Frederick William Saberton, a doctor in Manchester who qualified in 1873. Claude Saberton followed in his father's profession and studied medicine at Owens College and was demonstrator of anatomy at the University of Manchester. Saberton practised for a while with his father before pursuing a career as a radiologist, first in Bournemouth and later in Harrogate. Saberton was a fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and published a number of articles on diathermy. Saberton retired from practice in 1923 due to ill health, and died on 16 January 1928.
