Richard Ramsden studied medicine at the University of St Andrews. He was a consultant ENT surgeon at the MRI and professor of otolaryngology at the University of Manchester from 1994 to 2014. Ramsden is best known for his work on the multi-channel cochlear implant. He was president of ENT UK 2006-9, and awarded the MBE in 2015.
