Sutton was a surgeon in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, and was medical officer to Church Hulme District, Congleton Union. His son, also Charles Frederick Sutton, qualified around 1892, was house surgeon at MRI, and died on 25 February 1895 aged 26.
