Administrative / Biographical History

Ramsbottom was born at Middleton, the son of a draper. He was educated at Owens College, Manchester, and qualified in medicine in 1901. He was appointed an assistant physician at MRI in 1912. He was appointed professor of clinical medicine at the University of Manchester in 1921and retired from this post in 1937. Ramsbottom was also appointed Censor of the Royal College of Physicians in 1936.
