Saleh gained his medical education at Edinburgh University and held resident appointments at Burnley Municipal General Hospital and Altrincham General Hospital. Saleh settled in Manchester in 1939 and was appointed visiting anaesthetist at Ancoats Hospital. He served as an anaesthetist in the RAMC in the Middle East. Saleh then took the diploma in anaesthetics before rejoining Ancoats Hospital as specialist anaesthetist. Saleh was later consultant anaesthetist to North Manchester Hospitals Group. He was a member of the Manchester Medical Society.
