Roger Warwick (formerly Roger Jackson) qualified in medicine from the University of Manchester in 1937, having previously taken the B.Sc in 1934. He worked as a demonstrator in anatomy and he later received a Ph.D and MD with gold medal for his studies into the 3rd cranial nerve and innervation of the extrinsic ocular muscles. In 1955 he was appointed to the chair of anatomy at Guy's Hospital, where he built up a major department and became dean of the postgraduate institute. He was co-editor of Gray's Anatomy for its 35th, 36th and 37th editions. Warwick died on 14 September 1991 aged 78.
