Wilson was the son of Arthur Cobden Jordan Wilson (see above), and brother of Sidney Wilson. He was educated at Owens College Manchester and took his medical qualifications in 1901. He was in general practice at Penistone, Yorkshire and was medical officer of health for Penistone Urban District.
